sneak peak on Mina’s new collection for Coachella
When I first spoke with Mina, the creative force behind Mina Clothing, I felt like I was talking to someone who truly understood what it means to take a leap of faith and build something from scratch. Through Cosmos Creatives, I’ve had the privilege of meeting women who are rewriting what success looks like, and Mina is one of those people. Her story is more than just about starting a fashion brand; it’s about empowerment, community, and creating a safe space for women who want to feel both confident and comfortable in their own skin.
At Cosmos Creatives, one of our biggest goals is to amplify stories of women who take risks, the ones who don’t have a clear roadmap, but move forward anyway. Mina’s journey perfectly captures that. She’s young, ambitious, and instead of waiting for the “right time,” she decided to make her own.
How It All Started
When I asked Mina where her idea came from, she laughed a little before saying something that instantly stuck with me:
“I saw one of my friends doing a Shopify business. She was selling blankets, but they looked like coats like office suits. And she was just telling me how much of a success it was, and it really inspired me to start my own thing because I was like, wait a minute, brands pay me so much money to promote their products. How much are they making?”
That was her lightbulb moment, realizing that the brands she was promoting were making far more from her influence than she was. It wasn’t about greed; it was about independence. Mina wanted to build something that was truly hers. Something meaningful that reflected her community and her values.
“I really want to start a business. I was like, okay, so what am I going to do? And I wanted to do something catered toward my followers. I’m like, there’s no point in just making something. It has to mean something.”
Mina’s vision came from a personal struggle that so many girls can relate to which is finding the balance between modesty and self-expression.
“A lot of girls relate to my story with the whole modesty thing, like, I like showing off some stuff, but I like covering up too. I just felt like there was no specific brand where you could find clothes that were sexy but still covered.”
That’s when Mina Clothing was born, a brand she calls “the perfect in-between.” Not fully modest, but not revealing either. Just pieces that make women feel confident, feminine, and true to themselves.
“I say semi-modest because I can’t claim the word modest. People will fight me for it on the internet. But I’m just trying to come up with collections that are the perfect in-between that’s what I like to call it.”
What I love most about her story is how real she is about it being a journey. She doesn’t claim to have it all figured out and that’s exactly what makes her brand so relatable.
“Modesty is a journey, and I’m not fully there where I want to be. But I’m sure I’ll get there one day. This is like the stepping stone into it.”
Designing for Real Women
Mina’s creative process is deeply personal and she designs for women like herself.
“You go into a store, and they’ll have the most random backless moment or weird cutout. I just wanted to make something that’s still covered but flattering.”
Her pieces are classic and feminine, made for real girls who want to look good without compromising their comfort or values. She started small with basics and is now launching themed collections like her Valentine’s Day line and Coachella drop.
“We’re starting off with basics, but we’re doing a Valentine’s Day launch with cute dresses. Then a Coachella launch because Coachella is known for the wild outfits but I wanted to make something for girls who still want to dress cute and be covered. I’m actually going next year, so I’ll get to wear it myself.”
That’s what makes Mina’s approach so inspiring. She doesn’t just design she lives her brand. It’s a reflection of who she is, where she’s at in life, and the women she’s growing alongside.
Empowerment Through Taking the Risk
What stood out to me most about Mina’s journey is her willingness to take the risk. It’s scary to start something new, especially as a young woman in the creative space where stability often feels like a luxury. But Mina proves that believing in yourself can change everything.
She didn’t wait for validation. She didn’t overthink it. She just started.
That, to me, is the essence of empowerment. Doing something that feels right for you, even when you don’t know the outcome. Mina’s story is a reminder that women can create spaces for themselves and for others, no matter how unconventional the path looks.
And maybe that’s what this generation of creatives is really about women building communities, supporting each other, and proving that there’s beauty in the in-between.
Mina’s journey is proof that chasing your dream doesn’t always come with a perfect plan but it does come with purpose. Her story made me realize that empowerment isn’t just about success; it’s about starting anyway.
Because sometimes, all it takes is one small idea and the courage to believe it’s worth something.
